CycleItalia
On-Demand ~ Cooking with Carlo
These tours are
not currently on our schedule
but are available on a custom/private
basis depending on the size
of your group and the dates
which work best for you. Contact
us for more details about enjoying
your own private CYCLEITALIA.
Finally, a challenging
cycling vacation for you
- the avid cyclist
with a separate, parallel
itinerary for your non-cycling significant other. While
you enjoy breathtaking cycling
in the Langhe hills, he/she
will see the sights, taste the wine and even cook the food
during your five-night vacation
experience. This itinerary
brings new meaning to our “pedala
forte, mangia bene!” (ride hard, eat well) slogan.
Day
1 -
Overnight flight
to Milan.
Day 2 - After
a short transfer
from Milan's airport, you’ll
be assembling your
bike (or being
fitted for one
of ours) before
a warm-up ride
in Monferrato
wine country. Or
simply relax at
one of our
hotel’s panoramic
pools before our
welcome
dinner of piemontese specialties.

Day
3 - Cyclists
ride to Cortemilia through
Alta Monferrato, land
of Gavi and Dolcetto
wines
while the others enjoy
a morning in the spa
town of Acqui Terme for
shopping
and lunch before meeting
up with us at charming
Villa San Carlo, our
home for the next three
nights.
Day
4 - After
a sumptous buffet
breakfast, challenge
the hills of Barolo
with your choice
of 50, 70 or 100
kilometer
routes while the
others sightsee
the town of
Barolo, visit a
famous winery and
enjoy snacks
at the Castle of
Grinzane Cavour
before returning
to Cortemilia to
help
Chef Carlo Zarri
and his staff prepare
homemade
ravioli with herbs
and butter. We’ll
all enjoy the fruits
of
their labors during
our group dinner.
Perhaps Carlo will
play the
piano for us afterward.
Day 5 - Enjoy
Carlo’s hazelnut
cake and
wife Paola’s
gracious hospitality
with
a warm cappuccino
before a climb
to Bergolo, village
of art. Tackle
the
steep climb to
Mombarcaro. And
after a hearty
plate of handmade
tajarin, take
the
short way "home" and
relax by the
pool or challenge
the
full 90 kilometers
and 6000 feet
of elevation
gain. The
others will visit
the charming
city of Alba
and tour
the enotecas
of Barbaresco
and Mango before
returning to
Villa San Carlo
to help
prepare potato
gnocchi with
fresh tomato
sauce. We’ll
enjoy them as
our first
course before
a fillet of pork
with porcini
mushrooms at
tonight’s
group dinner. |

Day
6 - Cyclists
will return to Monferrato
wine country,
riding through carefully
tended vineyards near
Asti while
the others visit a lively
open-air market. We’ll
meet at Hotel Ariotto
in the afternoon before
toasting
our cycling and culinary
exploits at our farewell
dinner. Day 7 - Morning
airport shuttles.
