La Corsa Rosa

May 26 – June 2, 2014 $3495

We’ve always loved the Giro, in fact we met during the 1989 edition. While we’ve offered a few live viewing options over the years for that race in July in France, we’ve visited La Corsa Rosa only on a personal level, whether it was the famous Montalcino stage in 2010, the Finestre in 2011 or most recently the Cervinia stage in 2012. We’ve decided to share the experience with a limited number of you. Join us during the final week of the pink race and see two decisive stages live, in-person and ride on the storied route.

CycleItalia's Heather on Giro stage

May 26 – Overnight flight to Milan’s Malpensa(MXP) airport.

May 27Arrive in Italy where our private shuttle will take you to our HQ hotel in the Monferrato wine country. Assemble and fine-tune your bike (with our help) or get fitted for one of our Campagnolo-equipped fleet. Enjoy TV coverage of the Giro before our orientation meeting and welcome dinner of Piemontese specialties.

May 28We’re off to Vicenza (where we hope to visit famed Campagnolo) before unloading the bikes and riding through the Altopiano Asiago with a wild descent to our lodging in Levico Terme. We’ll enjoy another sumptuous dinner with local specialties.

May 29Il Giro comes to us today with a finish atop the Panarotta. Challenge the climb yourself or simply walk out to the road and await the Corsa Rosa. Open night for dinner in the lively spa town.

May 30Morning transfer to watch (and ride?) the chrono stage up Monte Grappa. We’ll transfer to our lodging near the infamous Zoncolan afterwards.

May 31The Giro d’Italia 2014 champion should be crowned here, after the spectacularly tough climb of Monte Zoncolan. Challenge the climb yourself with a warmup to the tiny village of Ovaro or simply walk out to the road and watch the Carovana Rosa go past. Our small group will let us be as close as possible to the action on this decisive stage and you can linger as long as you like as it’s mostly downhill to our night’s lodging where Friulian specialties await.

June 1The Giro’s off to Trieste to crown the winner, but we’ll have a leisurely morning before a transfer back to our HQ to pack our bikes and pop some bubbly of our own before our farewell dinner.

June 2 – Morning airport transfers or stay on for Vineyards to the Sea!
